Skull
This mixed-media skull study combines anatomical precision with expressive abstraction. The composition features a meticulously detailed skull rendered in ink line work, with careful attention to bone structure and detail. The interior and surrounding areas burst with vibrant watercolor washes in warm tones—peachy oranges, reds, and yellows—contrasted against cooler greens and yellows that bleed organically across the page. Bold black ink splatters and gestural marks punctuate the composition, creating visual tension between the structured skull and the chaotic, fluid color fields. The work explores duality—life and death, control and spontaneity, structure and dissolution—transforming the memento mori motif into a dynamic exploration of form, color, and emotion. (c) 2009
